I had the opportunity to go visit my family in Arizona this weekend.
What type/size of sediments are being deposited here? Sand
How about the sorting? Would you expect the grains to be well sorted, poorly sorted? Poorly Sorted
Well rounded or angular? Angular
Is this a high energy or low energy environment? Relatively low. Especially in Arizona, duststorms are common and could be considered high energy.
Did you notice sedimentary structures being formed (ripple marks, cross bedding, dunes, etc.) in this area? I want to say it looks like a bit of star dunes (there is more to the picture, but the lighting was not the best)
What type of sedimentary rock would be formed if this area were to immediately compact and cement into a rock? Upon further examination, it would be a conglomerate rock.
