Jie, F., Yanyan, G., Xiao, Z., O'Reilly, S. E., & Dongye, Z. (2014). Effects of Oil and Dispersant on Formation of Marine Oil Snow and Transport of Oil Hydrocarbons. Environmental Science & Technology, 48(24), 14392-14399. doi:10.1021/es5042157
The authors discussed the marine process of transportation and how waves are used in transporting oils. It also considered the formation mechanism of marine oil snow. The authors found that there are various risks that aid to the understanding of the dispersant effects and the oil transport in the event of an oil spill.
Dickson, M. (2004). The development of talus slopes around Lord Howe island and implications for the history of island planation. Australian Geographer, 35(2), 223-238. doi:10.1080/0004918042000249520
Dickson studied Lord Howe Island, a small eroded remnant of a late Miocene shield volcano. There is a coral reef that dissipates wave energy along a portion of the shoreline. Dickson argues that the erosion on the cliffs of the island is due to marine processes. He also argued that after the volcanism ceased, the marine cliffing was rapid.
